Integrated Goose Management

Catch-It Wildlife Damage Control, Inc. offers fully comprehensive Canada goose management service.  We offer all services to humanely regulate your goose population.  We fully understand the behavior of the Canada goose and the problems that arise from their presence.  Catch-It Wildlife Damage Control, Inc. uses the most up-to-date techniques to resolve your goose problem humanely, economically and efficiently.  We assess the problem with you or your property manager to answer any questions and to design a management program that's right for your property.
SERVICES OFFERED:
Border Collie Patrol
Our trained handler, Betsy Hudson uses our specially trained Border Collie to patrol the property and chase the geese off the area.  The dog does not harm the geese.  Geese see the dog as a predator and will flee to a safer location.  This method of harassment is endorsed by the Humane Society of the United States and has proven to be a very effective and economical solution to urban goose problems throughout the country.

Egg Oiling
Egg Oiling is a means of birth control for geese.  The method is used to reduce or eliminate the goose population for that year.  The eggs are oiled to prevent necessary gases and heat to transfer through the shell and prevents the embryo from developing.  Some nests are very hard to find and when found are aggressively protected by both male and female geese.  At times this can be very dangerous.  Federal and State permits are required for this activity, which we will help obtain for you.

geese Chemical Treatment
Catch-It Wildlife Damage Control, Inc. uses Flightcontrol© as the only chemical treatment.  Flightcontrol© is sprayed on the lawn where the geese are feeding.  This product is safe for all humans and wildlife.  It works in several ways.  First, it causes mild stomach discomfort in the geese and other waterfowl.  Second, it uses unique properties to absorb the ultraviolet light that only the geese can see.  This causes the geese to associate the treated area with a mild stomach ache and leave the area to feed elsewhere.

Roundups
That's right, just like in the ol' west.  Geese are herded into a corral to be shipped off to another area.  This activity actually takes a lot of planning and teamwork.  Roundups are done in mid-June when the geese are molting and the goslings have not yet developed their primary flight feathers.  This is a good method to eliminate or reduce a goose population quickly.  Federal and State permits are required for this service.  We will help in obtaining all permits.

Lasers
Night time harassment with lasers is sometimes used to help eliminate a particular goose problem. The geese react to the lasers as if a predator were present.

Habitat Modification
The least practical method of control, typically. We can consult you or property manger on modifications that can be done to reduce the attractiveness of your particular property. Options include large bushes around the water's edge, leaving grass to grow tall around the lake front or install no feeding signs. Other options are available that can be discussed during our assessment of the problem.
